The Human Art Meets …

Need to update the headshots.  As a lark, I tried something.  AI.  It was … the … strangest … experience.  I have, like, 300 photos of me.  And they are me.  And they aren’t me.  It is very very surreal.  I kept staring at the images.  I didn’t pose for these.  They aren’t my clothes.  And yet.  Is this the way of things now?  I mean, it was a good exercise.  I found that, yes, you get what you pay for.  The cheaper of the two services I tried (https://justheadshots.ai/) bounced back images in under two hours and many of the shots are … weird.  My weight goes from an anorexic 95 pounds to a 195 pound girl.  My eyes change colors.  My hair is oddly smooth, as is the waxy complexion of my face.  Clothing looks like draped plastic, buttons are missing, pockets are oddly placed.  In one photo my arm is contorted in a way that makes me look like I have two left arms.  In the other, more expensive shots (https://portraitpal.ai/) I got fewer pictures, the quality was (mostly) better and a few look quite real.  These images were less forgiving – do I really have that many wrinkles?  But the range of hairstyles, clothing and backgrounds gave me a lot to think about.  Yes, the longer hair is a better fit.  No, it’s not problematic if there are loose hairs flying about.  Yes, I am of an age where I can be stylish, but it mostly calls for layers.  I don’t know if I will ever warm up to this, however.  It just feels … a tad creepy.  That being said, took a few of the ones I actually liked and posted them online with my other headshots.  Let’s see if you can tell the difference.
